By the way, it just occurred to me, apropos my classification, that the two ladies you see in closeup in the final panels are indeed Marcel's maiden aunts Céline and Flora. (Maiden great-aunts if you want to be completely pedantic about it). I am sure they would be appropriately shocked if they saw the scene with Vinteuil's daughter and her lesbian lover, which is done pretty much as in the original.
